All one needs to know about different types of valves

Valves are mechanical systems used for controlling the pressure and flow of liquids slurry and gases within a system. Ball valves Valve Repair plug valves Rexroth Valves, gate valves Servo Valves, globe valves, butterfly valve, pinch valve, and disc check valve etc. are some of the commonly used valves. Valve Repair is very expensive and thereforeit is very important to carry out regular and timely preventive maintenance.

Ball valve: Ball valves are often operated asquarter turn valves. The closure member is spherical in shape and it is a plug with a through hole. When the through hole is in-line, valve is in open state and water flows through it. By rotating the globe through ninety degrees, the hole becomes perpendicular to the flow. The flow of water is stopped. It has a soft circumferential seat so that tight shut-off is possible. They are not used for maintaining a partially opened stage. Preventive maintenance is very important to ball valves like Rexroth Valves, Servo Valves etc.

Gate valve: Gate valves are sliding type valves. In this type of valve, the closingis done with the help of a metal plate. When the gate slides down the valve is closed. In fully opened condition, the entire area of the pipe will be the flow area. Therefore, there is negligible pressure drop in this case. These valves are ideal for using as on-off valves. They are not suitable for use as throttling valves because in the partially opened condition there are chances for the gate to be eroded. These types of valves are very suitable for petroleum industry as they can be used with metal sealing. Preventive maintenance is very important to ball valves like Servo Valves, Moog Valves etc.
Plug valves: like ball valves plug valves are also quarter turn valves. The plug used in this valve can be either conical or cylindrical in appearance. There is a throughslit that remains in-line withflow when the valve is in open condition. This slit becomes perpendicular in closed condition.  Click here  Valve Repair
